Default My ZDX is a Lemon!

I bought a new ZDX on Sept. 19th from a dealer in Greenville, SC. Black with umber interior and the advanced package, it is a great looking car.

However, it is plagued with a loud squeak emanating from somewhere in the right rear and it began sounding off before I even got the car home. Over the next week it got louder but when it rains or goes through a car wash it is silent.

I took it in to our local dealer and they were utterly baffled. They spent an entire day trying to locate and fix it. Finally, they fiddled with the heat shield and declared it repaired. But the squeak came back on my way home.

I then took it to a race car designer friend who has numerous patents on chassis items for race cars of all kinds and is tremendously knowledgeable. Nope! He was also unsuccessful in finding the cause and at $100 an hour I decided it would be better to go back to the local dealer here in Asheville.

But first I took it to one of the best body shops in the city and they also were unable to find and fix the problem after spending six hours on it.

Back to the local dealer and this time the squeak was really loud! The head mechanic went under the car as I flexed my 190 lbs. up and down on the rear door sill to create the squeak and he declared the rear shock was defective. They ordered a new one in and the next day I left the garage with a smile on my face but half way home the squeak was back.

Then I took it back to the dealer in Greenville and they have had the car for four days and have pulled out all the stops. The service manager drives it to and from work every day, a total of 70 miles daily, and they have worked on it everyday but the damned squeak still comes back.

I finally lost patience and have asked the dealer to buy it back. The car has 4,400 miles on it. They made me an offer today which is $14,000 less than I paid for the car. They want to profit from my bad luck in having bought a lemon with a problem they are unable to fix!

Acura is aware of the problem but has no knowledge of any other instance of it. Has anyone in this forum ever heard of a similar problem with ZDXs?

Besides the squeak, the CMBS does not seem to work and I also question whether the dual ride adjustment is working. All I really care about is fixing the squeak which is more annoying than you can possibly imagine.

I have a friend who hired a lemon law attorney to get her problems with a truly bad new Audi A6 straightened out and I think I may have to do the same. The manager of my dealership is a total jerk and impossible to reason with. He keeps trying to sell me an MDX.

Any fresh ideas or advice would be much appreciated.

Well Nick, I question your judgement in taking this vehicle through a car wash, my X never sees a car wash, nor do I allow the dealer to even hand wash it. I am very particular

What do you mean when you mean when you say the CMBS is not working or you question whether the dual ride system is working? You would definitely know.

It almost sounds as though you are unhappy with the ZDX and want to use this to get out of the vehicle so you can buy an Audi?

Maybe you should look at the MDX
